We built the box around the mandarin candle. Mandarins are the fruit of the season: in Cantonese the word sounds like gold, and families bring them in pairs when they visit. The candle carries that bright peel scent into the room long after the fruit bowl is empty.

Before the visit, fill the red envelopes with new bills. Even amounts are the custom, and the gold foil does the rest.

Wrapped in red and gold, never white or black.

Every box includes a handwritten note, a keepsake box, tissue and ribbon. Packed by hand in Lynn, Massachusetts.

The story

We built this box for the New Year visit: tea to pour, sweets for a sweet year and red envelopes ready to fill. It comes wrapped in red and gold, with eight gifts, because eight is the lucky number.
