We chose ceremonial matcha because it is meant to be whisked with water alone: grassy, smooth and bright green in the bowl. The bamboo whisk makes the fine foam a spoon cannot, and the holder keeps its shape between uses.

Sift one teaspoon of matcha into the bowl, add 2 ounces of water at about 175°F, and whisk in a quick zigzag until it foams.

It works as a birthday gift all year and as a Galentine's gift in February.

Every box includes a handwritten note, a keepsake box, tissue and ribbon. Packed by hand in Lynn, Massachusetts.
